Half full or half empty?

Is the glass half full or is it half empty? It is whatever state toward which it is tending. If a glass was full and is in the process of being emptied, it is then half empty because it will presumably be empty before it is full again. If the glass was once empty and it is in the process of being filled, it is then half full for the same reason.
